Dear Brothers and Sisters,

For those of you who are unaware, Brother Bob Carroll, while spending the Christmas Holidays with his daughter Aimee in Boston, was diagnosed with leukemia. He was admitted to Brigham and Women's Hospital on 1/5 where he received both chemo and radiation treatment. He is now being treated as an out-patient while staying with his daughter. Although he seems to be doing better, he still has a long road ahead. He has yet to be scheduled for a bone marrow transplant. All the prayers and support you can lend will be most welcome and appreciated.

Those of us who have had the good fortune of working with the Carroll Brothers (Bob and Pat) can only smile and laugh when looking back and remembering some of the shenanigans they pulled. Always in good clean fun, never with malice or vindictiveness. When either one of them, let alone the two of them were on the job you were assured the days would be brighter as well as lighter. Always with safety first, their little antics would bring tears to your eyes. You never knew what was coming or when the other shoe would drop, but you always knew it was on it's way! For those of you who didn't have the opportunity to know Bob, he retired back in 2005, while his brother Pat put his papers in a couple of months back. Two brothers with a great sense of humor, gave the word "BROTHERHOOD" true meaning in every sense!

A new website has been developed by the IBEW Second District Office to help in the fight against the increasing number of anti-union legislative proposals submitted each year. Some examples of items that are constantly under attack are prevailing wage laws, licensing laws, and regulations pertaining to apprenticeship ratios. These laws if changed (for the worse), will have a negative impact on all working families, whether they are union members or not.
